My grandparents took me regularly to Yugoslavia and we met a very friendly Yugotours rep, Branko Zivadinovic, whose job, I felt, was what I wanted to do. It didn't turn out that way and I have been office-bound ever since but I do make sure that I use every available second wisely on holidays. We have also been lucky at work on occasion when npower has brought |
along cricketers Mike Gatting, Phil Tufnell and Charlotte Edwards to our offices and our office managed to commandeer some of Phil's time as he visited on my birthday and I was also invited along for a photo session with others with Mike. |

I may have been guilty of returning to the same places - India 31 times, Dubai 18 and Switzerland possibly 50 times. I have realised now that I must visit new places and I will be shortly off to Jordan and Jerusalem and am ensuring that all available weekends are spent going to new places whether they are in Europe or the U.K.
Our office has always had an excellent and long-lasting working relationship with Emirates and they have been very good to me both in the air and on the ground. They opened up a new world to me in the late 1990s as, having previously felt uncomfortable even flying over the Middle East, I now know and love Dubai and usually stop en route to my destination for a day or so there. I made another friend in Shailja Kalia who kindly arranged for me twice to be shown around Dubai's iconic hotel, the Burj Al Arab. Through their sporting advertising, Emirates have also been very kind with invitations to cricket matches, a day at Silverstone and a chance to speak briefly with the Duke of Edinburgh at the annual Windsor Castle |

match between Fly Emirates and The Lord's Taverners as they also support The Lord's Taverners for whom I compiled their 60th Anniversary statistics. In addition to all this, the Emirates service in the air is also pretty decent... |
