Zaheer Khan's adopted tiger was also asleep and Anil Kumble's lions were, well, asleep also... I had told Dhoni in the summer that I would send him a photo of Agasthya but clearly this wasn't possible although Pooja's eyesight is better than mine and she claimed to have seen the slumbering animal. I hoped that M.S was more alert in the Delhi Test against the West Indies... We went onto the magnificent Mysore Palace before another long journey back in a less comfortable bus but, with seats at a premium, we had to take what we could get so along but thoroughly enjoyable day ended with my getting back to the hotel around 9.30pm.
MONDAY 7 NOVEMBER
Off at 7.30pm, I took a Jet Airways flight to Delhi and took the impressive Metro from the equally impressive new Terminal 3, found an autorickshaw driver willing not to exploit me for the last 5kms and checked in again at the very nice and

comfortable Neptune Residency once again. Rajesh's first surprise is to invite me to a Press Conference the next day at the five star Park Hotel near the Jantar Mantar which is to publicise the Women's Golf Tournament to be held in Delhi in December. I had been expecting to go to the Test at Feroz Shah Kotla. We had a lovely meal of Afghani chicken, kabab and beer and it was a pleasure to see Rajesh and his wife, Geeta, son Gaurav and daughter Anshu.
TUESDAY 8 NOVEMBER
The Press Conference is fun and there is one lengthy speech. The person concerned cannot initially seem to work the microphone and I sympathised as, during my first ever speech - which was televised for good measure - for Dhoni, I am sure no-one heard anything but, in today's case - we are treated to two power cuts for good measure. I have, though, learnt a fair deal and wish the golf tournament well.
