Day Inn near Wetherby
I moved onto Wetherby on the Sunday which is about thirteen miles from Leeds and it was again easily reached by bus from Leeds and I stayed at the Days Inn on the junction of the A1M near Wetherby . I was probably one of the rare people who stayed there who was relying on public transport but the hotel provided a courtesy bus to take me back to Wetherby and the room was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and, during my stay, I returned almost back to Leeds to visit Roundhay Park.
This is a most impressive and lovely place to walk with lakes, what looked like a cricket field and other sports fields and a host of activities and it would be easy to while away a couple of hours very easily. It would have been nice to have had longer but, with my feet feeling the effects of twenty odd miles walking over the two days - and, yes, even with a Metropass on both days! - I was glad to rest them on the bus back to Wetherby, which is a nice and small town which undoubtedly would have looked nicer on a better day.

The weekend was wonderful and has whetted my appetite for a further and sooner return, I hope.
