The night time views from the Mount of Olives were stunning and I also found the grave of Oskar Schindler, saviour of 1200 Jews during the Holocaust, and, returning to biblical times, the Room of the Last Supper. There is so much to see and do in this fascinating city and I very much hope to return to Israel for a longer stay.

Before returning to Jordan my final day in Israel took me for more mud and floating at En Gedi Spa and an interesting tour of Masada, once a Jewish stronghold which was taken over by the Romans. The Jews, realising that their fortress on top of the mountain overlooking the Dead Sea would be taken, took the decision on mass suicide rather than be captured and defeated by the Romans. Some of the buildings have been partially restored as a lot of it was destroyed by earthquakes and the views over the Dead Sea and Jordan are tremendous.
I stopped overnight in Dubai and visited a friend, Shailja Kalia, in The Address at Dubai Marina where she works, before another excellent Emirates flight back to Heathrow. Back at work now but it is only three weeks until I go off to India for the World Cup but am having sadly to re-jig part of the trip after the India and England match which I was planning to go to was moved from Calcutta to Bangalore.
