I include some of the photos which I took which I hope may be of interest. It was a superb trip, great fun and, whilst I returned home happy to have seen so much, I rather doubt that this area has seen the last of me. For the record, whilst on one of many visits to Switzerland, I stopped off in the small town of Celigny where Richard Burton lived for many years. You can, if you know what you are looking for, very briefly see his house from the railway line as it enters the now disused Celigny Railway Station, but on this occasion an animated hound barked furiously as I went for a surreptitious photo. Further up the hill, in the small cemetery which isn’t that easy to find, lies Richard Burton’s grave. Close by is the grave of the author of Where Eagles Dare, Alistair Maclean... |
