  • Jonny Bairstow’s eighth Test century is also his first against West Indies. Indeed, in nine previous Tests against West Indies, his highest score was just 52.
  • Bairstow and Ben Foakes shared in the first-ever partnership of 99 (for any wicket) for England against West Indies.
  • Jack Leach became the first England bowler since Graeme Swann in 2010 to bowl 20 (or more) maiden overs in the same innings.
  • Nkrumah Bonner’s 558-ball 123 is the longest innings at Antigua’s North Sound ground overtaking his captain Kraigg Brathwaite’s 514-minute 126 against Sri Lanka in 2020-21.
  • Bonner’s innings is also the longest by balls (355) at North Sound beating Brathwaite’s innings mentioned above (311). Bonner’s innings is his second Test century, his previous also being at North Sound. There have been longer innings by balls and time at Antigua’s St. John’s ground.
  • The partnership of 201 between Joe Root and Zak Crawley is the highest for the second wicket at North Sound. The previous best was 162 between Lahiru Thirimanne and Oshada Fernando for Sri Lanka in 2020-21.
  • During his second innings century, Joe Root became the 17th England player to score 1000 runs against West Indies.
  • Ben Stokes also achieved the same feat during the Test.
  • Root’s century is his 24th in Tests, taking him into second place behind Sir Alastair Cook, after being previously tied with Kevin Pietersen.
  • Leach’s 34 maidens in the match is the most by an England bowler since Phil Tufnell bowled 35 against New Zealand at Christchurch in 1991-92.
  • Bonner’s 736-minute vigil at the crease in the match is the third longest for West Indies in their history. Brathwaite (813 minutes vs. Sri Lanka, also at North Sound, in 2020-21) heads their list.
  • The last occasion that England scored three (or more) centuries in the same Test was at Rajkot against India in 2016-17.
