MATCH 35 SRI LANKA VS. SOUTH AFRICA AT CHESTER-LE-STREET

  • Dimuth Karunaratne became the first captain to be dismissed by the first ball of a World Cup match.
  • Sri Lanka's 203 is the second-highest World Cup total with no player scoring more than 30. Zimbabwe's 207 against India at Kanpur in 1996 is the highest.
  • Faf du Plessis became only the fourth non-wicketkeeper to score a fifty and take three catches in a World Cup match. The others are Ross Taylor, Scotland's Freddie Coleman, and Joe Root.

MATCH 36 PAKISTAN VS. AFGHANISTAN AT HEADINGLEY

  • Pakistan's 230 for 7 is their highest World Cup total without an individual fifty surpassing their 229 for 8 against West Indies at Bristol in 1999.
  • The match aggregate of 457 runs for 16 wickets is the second lowest in the World Cup which does not include an individual fifty. The highest (468 for 20) took place in Chennai in 2011 between England and West Indies.
  • For the second time in the 2019 tournament, six Pakistan fielders took a catch in the same innings.

MATCH 37 NEW ZEALAND VS. AUSTRALIA AT LORD'S

  • Mitchell Starc became the first bowler in the World Cup to take five wickets in an innings three times. Two of these occasions have been against New Zealand.
  • Starc became the fourth bowler - and third Australian - to take five wickets in a World Cup innings at Lord's.
  • Trent Boult became the eleventh bowler to take a World Cup hat-trick.
  • Boult became the first bowler to take an ODI hat-trick at Lord's.
  • For the third time in their World Cup history, Australia used eight bowlers in the same innings.
  • The 107-run partnership between Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey is Australia's highest for the sixth wicket in their World Cup history. This beat the 99 between Rod Marsh and Ross Edwards against West Indies at The Oval in 1975.
  • Kane Williamson passed 6000 ODI runs during his innings of 40.

MATCH 38 ENGLAND VS. INDIA AT EDGBASTON

  • Mohammad Shami became the sixth Indian bowler to take five wickets in a World Cup innings. His 5 for 69 is, though, the most expensive analysis of the six.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal's 10-0-88-0 is India's most expensive analysis in the World Cup. Javagal Srinath's 10-0-87-0 in the 2003 World Cup final was the previous highest.
  • England's win is their first against India in the World Cup since 1992.
  • India's 306 for 5 is their highest, second innings World Cup total surpassing the 288 for 4 against Zimbabwe at Auckland in 2015.
