MATCH 11 PAKISTAN VS. SRI LANKA AT BRISTOL

  • The match became only the third in World Cup history to be abandoned without a ball bowled. The other occasions were West Indies vs. Sri Lanka at The Oval in 1979 and Australia vs. Bangladesh at Brisbane in 2015.

MATCH 12 ENGLAND VS. BANGLADESH AT CARDIFF

  • England’s 386 for 6 is the seventh highest World Cup total after losing the toss and being inserted. Indeed, it is the third-highest total after being inserted by a Test playing nation, West Indies having twice inserted in 2015 and conceded 408 for 5 to South Africa and 393 for 6 to New Zealand.
  • England’s 128 opening run partnership is the eleventh-highest World Cup, opening partnership by a team having been inserted.
  • England’s innings saw the third time in the World Cup of five bowlers each conceding 60 or more runs. The same happened for South Africa against Australia at Basseterre in 2007 and for England against Australia at Melbourne in 2015.
  • Jason Roy’s 153 is the highest ODI innings at Cardiff surpassing Shaun Marsh’s 131 for Australia against England in 2018.
  • England’s total is the highest at Cardiff surpassing their 342 for 8 against Australia in 2018.
  • Shakib al Hasan became Bangladesh’s second World Cup centurion with his 121.
  • Jonny Bairstow became the third England wicket-keeper to make four dismissals in a World Cup innings after Matt Prior and Jos Buttler.
  • Toss results from the World Cup 2019 after twelve matches – Won the toss and inserted opposition – nine times with three wins and six losses; Won the toss and batted first – two losses. One abandoned game.

MATCH 13 AFGHANISTAN VS. NEW ZEALAND AT TAUNTON

  • Tom Latham became the first New Zealand wicket-keeper to make five dismissals in a World Cup innings.
  • Martin Guptill became the tenth opening batsman and second from New Zealand to be dismissed by the first balls of a team’s innings.
  • James Neesham became the fifth New Zealand bowler to take five wickets in a World Cup innings.
  • For the first time in their World Cup history, two New Zealand bowlers each took four or more wickets in the same innings.

MATCH 14 INDIA VS. AUSTRALIA AT THE OVAL

  • Shikhar Dhawan became the second Indian batsman after Ajay Jadeja to score a World Cup hundred against Australia. Jadeja’s came in 1999 and was also at The Oval.
  • For the first time in their World Cup history, five Australian bowlers conceded 50 runs each in an innings.
  • India’s victory is their fourth in twelve matches against Australia in the World Cup.
