  • India's victory by any innings and 132 runs is their third-largest over Australia. Their best is an innings and 219 runs at Calcutta in 1997-98. All three victories have taken place after losing the toss.
  • Australia's first innings 177 is their third-lowest, first innings total against India after winning the toss and batting. Their lowest is 131 at Sydney in 1977-78.
  • Todd Murphy's debut-innings analysis of 7 for 124 is the third-best for Australia behind only Bob Massie's 8 for 84 against England at Lord's in 1972 and Jason Krezja's 8 for 215 against India, also at Nagpur, in 2008-09.
  • The last occasion of an Australian side having as many as 14 scores of under 10 was against South Africa at Wanderers in 2017-18 when they had 16.
  • The only higher number of single-digit innings in a Test by Australia in India was 15 at Delhi in 1969-70. They also had 14 at Bombay's Wankhede stadium in 1979-80.
  • Australia's 10 lbws in the Test is their most against any country surpassing the nine (twice) against India at Kolkata in 2000-01 and at Galle against Sri Lanka in 2022. The record for any team is 11, on three occasions.
  • The Test saw the 26th occasion that no Australian player made a fifty in a match. The last occasion was against India at Melbourne in 2020-21. It is their first such occasion in India.
  • Australia's second innings 91 is their lowest, completed total in India. Their previous lowest was 93 at Mumbai in 2004-05.
  • Australia's aggregate of 268 runs for 20 wickets is their lowest in India overtaking their 296 (for 20 wickets) at Mumbai in 2004-05. Against all opposition in any country, their total sits twentieth lowest.
  • Rohit Sharma became the tenth Indian captain to score a century against Australia. The feat has been achieved fifteen times with M.S. Dhoni's 224 at Chennai being the highest.
  • Axar Patel's 84 is India's second-highest score by a number 9 against Australia, behind only Karsan Ghavri's 86 at Bombay in 1979-80. Against all opposition, Patel's innings is fifth highest for India at number 9.
  • Ravindra Jadeja became the first Indian player to twice score a fifty and take five wickets in an innings in the same Test against Australia. He did so at Ranchi in 2016-17. Other players to achieve the feat once are Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan and Rusi Surti.
  • Australia first-innings total of 177 is their fourth lowest in a completed innings against all opposition which includes two fifty partnerships. Their lowest is 161 against South Africa at Hobart in 2016-17. It is also their lowest against India, their previous lowest being 195 at Mohali in 2008-09.
  • Ravichandran Ashwin moved into second place, ahead of Harbhajan Singh, with most wickets against Australia (97). Anil Kumble (111) heads the list.
  • Ashwin became the second Indian player, after Kumble, to register 450 wickets in Tests.
  • Ashwin became the first bowler to dismiss four Australian players lbw in the same innings twice. The only other player to do so once is another Indian player, Kapil Dev.
  • There were only four dismissals to catches in Australia's two innings, the fewest by them in any Test where they lost all twenty wickets. This is only the second time which this has happened to Australia, the other occasion being in 2022 against Sri Lanka at Galle.
  • The last time that an Australian had an innings of no more than 25 was at Melbourne, also against India, in 2018-19. Marcus Harris's 22 was top score on that occasion.
