  • Stuart Broad's dismissals in both innings of David Warner means that he has now dismissed the Australian player on seventeen occasions, the joint-third most by any bowler dismissing the same opponent. Glenn McGrath tops the list with 19 dismissals of Michael Atherton (who also shares joint-third spot having been dismissed by Courtney Walsh and Curtley Ambrose seventeen times to each bowler).
  • Steve Smith became the 75th player, and 15th from Australia, to reach 100 Tests.
  • Mark Wood's 5 for 34 is the cheapest five-wicket haul in the first innings of a Headingley Test by an England player since James Anderson's 5 for 16 against Sri Lanka in 2016.
  • Australia's 263 is the lowest, completed total at Headingley to include a 150-run partnership. Previously, the lowest was India's 293 in 1952.
  • In scoring 76.13% of the runs whilst at the wicket, Mitchell Marsh's rate is the third-highest by a number 6 scoring a century in any Test. Heading the list is West Indian player Dwayne Smith against South Africa at Cape Town in 2003-04. Marsh's innings is the twentieth highest at any place in the order by a player making a century and the sixth in Ashes Tests.
  • At Headingley, Marsh's innings tops the list above by any player scoring a century. Jonny Bairstow's 67.96% against Sri Lanka in 2016 was the previous highest.
  • Marsh's percentage of boundaries in his 118 (77.97%) is the most by any player at Headingley making a century. The previous best was Allan Lamb's 125 (76.80%) against Australia in 1989.

  • Pat Cummins's 6-91 in England's first innings is the second-best analysis by a captain at Headingley. Imran Khan heads the list with 7 for 40 against England in 1987. He and Gary Sobers both performed the feat twice.
  • Mark Wood's 24 in England's first innings is the highest score (where records exist) by any player facing no more than eight balls in an innings. The highest such innings was Albert Cotter's 15 in 6 balls for Australia against South Africa in 1910-11 at Melbourne.
  • Harry Brook reached 1000 Test runs for England. Brook reached the milestone in his 17th innings which places him third quickest for all England players. Interestingly, England's first four in this order all represented Yorkshire (Herbert Sutcliffe, Len Hutton, Brook and Gary Ballance).
