Brief highlights to date of T20 World Cup

  • India's 119 in their match against Pakistan is the joint-lowest first innings total which was successfully defended in an uninterrupted match. In 2013-14, Sri Lanka also made 119 at Chittagong before bowling New Zealand out for 60.
  • Pakistan's record against India in the T20 World Cup is very similar to their record in the ODI (50 or 60 overs) World Cup with only one win from eight matches. In the longer format World Cup, they have lost all of their eight games against India.
  • The England vs. Scotland match saw the first instance of an England side failing to take a wicket in a World Cup T20 match.
  • Uganda's 39 all out against West Indies is the joint-lowest completed total at the T20 World Cup. Netherlands made the same score at Chittagong against Sri Lanka in 2013-14.
  • Australia's 201 for 7 against England is the third-highest total by an inserted team at the T20 World Cup. The only higher totals are 230 for 8 by South Africa against England (who won) at Mumbai in 2015-16 and 208 for 2 by West Indies against South Africa (who won) at Wanderers in 2007-08.
  • The tournament's curtain-raiser at Grand Prairie between U.S.A. and Canada saw an aggregate of 391 runs for eight wickets, the fourth highest at the T20 World Cup.
  • There have already been six all-out totals of under 100 in the competition. In other years, there were two in 2022, nine in 2021, three in 2016, eight in 2014, two in 2012, four in 2010, and three in 2009 and 2007.
  • Of this number, six have come at Providence (four to date in 2024 and two in 2010)
  • There have already been two Super-Over matches in the tournament so far making four in the competition's history. There were also two in the 2012 tournament. A previous tie in 2007 between India and Pakistan was settled with a bowl-out. The matches in this year's competition have been Pakistan and U.S.A. and Oman and Namibia.
  • U.S.A's win over Pakistan is the thirteenth occasion in the T20 World Cup of a non-Test side overcoming a Test team. Of this number, Netherlands have four of the wins (including two over England) with Ireland, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia all achieving two. After the U.S.A. victory, Canada registered the fourteenth such victory with a win over Ireland.
  • New Zealand's 75 at Providence is the lowest dismissed total by a Test side playing against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup.
  • During their fledgling T20 World Cup appearances, Uganda have yet to record a three-figure total although they have beaten Papua New Guinea.
  • Uganda's Frank Nsubuga became the second-oldest player to make a T20 World Cup debut (43 years 282 days). Only Ryan Campbell, who made his debut for Hong Kong at 44 years and 23 days, was older.
  • So far in the competition (after 20 games), there have been 47 ducks.
  • There have so far been two instances of a bowler taking five wickets in an innings: Fazal Haque (5-9 for Afghanistan vs. Uganda) and Akeal Hosein (5-11 for West Indies vs. Uganda). Both of these have been taken at Providence.
  • The 2024 competition has also seen to date the two lowest batting runs-per-over rates at the T20 World Cup. Both were at Providence: 3.25 by Uganda vs. West Indies and 3.63 for Uganda vs. Afghanistan. The previous lowest was 3.71 by Netherlands vs. Sri Lanka at Chittagong in 2014.
  • The Oman vs. Namibia match which went to a Super Over saw the lowest match aggregate (218) of all tied matches at the T20 World Cup. Previously, the lowest had been 278 between West Indies and New Zealand at Pallekele in 2012.
