Second Test Highlights Pakistan VS. England, Rawalpindi
- The partnership of 105 between Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson in England's first innings is only the third century stand for England in Pakistan for the seventh wicket. The highest is 167 between David Gower and Vic Marks at Faisalabad in 1982-83.
- After nine Tests, Jamie Smith is third highest in the list of runs by wicket-keepers at the same stage of their careers. Smith's aggregate of 637 runs is bettered only by Les Ames (England) with 683 runs and India's Rishabh Pant (696).
- Sajid Khan's 10 for 197 is the third-best match performance at Rawalpindi's Cricket Stadium. Mohammad Zahid's 11 for 130 for Pakistan against New Zealand in 1996-97 tops the list.
- Sajid became only the sixth bowler in Tests to take ten or more wickets in a Test with only one dismissal caught. He joins Jason Holder (West Indies), Clarrie Grimmett (Australia) and from Pakistan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. The best analysis, though, is by England's Johnny Briggs who took 15 for 28 against South Africa at Cape Town in 1888-89 with no dismissals to catches, fourteen being bowled and the other lbw.
- England's first innings 267 is their lowest, completed total in Pakistan to include both a century and a fifty partnership. Previously, their 275 at Multan in 2022-23 was their lowest such total.
- Noman Ali's second-innings 6 for 42 is the second-best analysis at Rawalpindi's Cricket Stadium behind only Mohammad Zahid's 7 for 66 for Pakistan against New Zealand in 1996-97.
- Pakistan's first innings recovery from 177 for 7 to 344 all out is their sixth best recovery from seven wickets down (and based on the same number of runs or fewer). Their highest is 215 at Lord's in 1967 (from 139 for 7 to 354 all out) whilst their joint-best in Pakistan is just one run more: 168 against England at Lahore in 1983-84 (from 175 for 7 to 343 all out) and against India at Jalandhar, also in 1983-84 (from 169 for 7 to 337 all out)
- For only the fourth time in their history, Pakistan's first innings total included scores of 40 or more by both their number nine and ten. The last occasion was against New Zealand at Karachi in 1984-85.
- Noman Ali equalled the Pakistan record of Saqlain Mushtaq of 20 wickets in a series by a player appearing in no more than two Tests. Saqlain did so against India in India in 1998-99.
- Sajid Khan's 19 wickets in the series means that he slots into second place in the list above surpassing Mushtaq Ahmed (twice) and Shaheen Shah Afridi who took 18 wickets in two Tests in a series.
- Ben Duckett joined Zak Crawley (in 2022-23) and Chris Broad (in 1987-88) as the only England openers to be dismissed lbw in both innings of the same Test in Pakistan.
- Rehan Ahmed was dismissed twice in the same manner in the Test. The last England player to do so against Pakistan was Zak Crawley at Karachi in 2022-23 (in the match mentioned above).
- For their eighth occasion (and first time in successive Tests), an England team lost all twenty wickets to slow bowlers. Four of these have happened in the last eight years, all of them in Asia.
- Jack Leach became only the ninth England player to be dismissed stumped in both innings of the same Test. The last player was Mark Butcher against Sri Lanka at Kandy in 2003-04.
- After fifteen Tests, Saud Shakeel has scored 1406 runs which is the second highest for Pakistan behind only Saeed Anwar's 1434 at the same stage. Shakeel's total is the fifteenth highest by any player with Don Bradman's 2115 topping the list.
- England lost six wickets lbw in the Test, three in each innings. Whilst they have lost more in other Tests, this is their fourteenth occasion since 2000 of a minimum of three falling in each innings of the same Test with ten of these taking place in Asia and the Middle East and only four in England.
- The Rawalpindi Test featured the fourth occasion of a Pakistan side's spin bowlers taking all twenty wickets. Three of these have been against England (at Multan in the previous Test and at Lahore in 1987-88) whilst the only other time was against West Indies at Faisalabad in 1980-81. Between all countries, the feat has been performed seventeen times.
- England lost their last seven second-innings wickets for 46 runs. Although there have been plenty of occasions of this happening, this has happened to England on nine occasions during this decade and thirty six since the turn of this century.
- Shan Masood ended the Test and series in Pakistan's favour with an unbeaten 23 in just six balls and four minutes with four fours and a six. He is the first player to register as many fours and sixes in a brief innings of no more than six balls. Makhaya Ntini (South Africa vs. England at Durban in 2004-05) hit four fours in his six-ball, unbeaten innings of 16. This is based on known records of balls faced. It is also the highest number of runs made in an innings of no longer than four minutes, the previous highest being Zak Crawley's unbeaten 12 (in two minutes) for England against Ireland at Lord's in 2023.
