MATCH 6 ENGLAND VS. PAKISTAN AT TRENT BRIDGE

  • Pakistan's 348 for 8 is just one behind their highest World Cup total made against Zimbabwe at Kingston in 2007.
  • Pakistan's total is the highest conceded by England in the World Cup after winning the toss and inserting the opposition. Their previous highest was against Australia at Melbourne in 2015 where they conceded 342 for 9.
  • For the first time, England scored two centuries in a World Cup innings. This is the sixteenth occasion of two centurions featuring in the same World Cup innings.
  • The 130-run partnership between England's centurions, Joe Root and Jos Buttler, is England's highest for the fifth wicket at the World Cup.
  • The match aggregate of 682 runs for 17 wickets is the second-highest in the World Cup behind the Australia and Sri Lanka match at Sydney in 2015 when 688 runs were scored for 18 wickets.
  • No side has ever lost a World Cup after their innings included two centurions.
  • Chris Woakes became the first England fielder to take four catches in an ODI innings. He is also the fourth fielder to take four catches in a World Cup innings after Mohammad Kaif (India), Umar Akmal (Pakistan) and Soumya Sarkar (Bangladesh).
  • England's 334 for 9 is the highest, second innings total in a losing cause in a World Cup match overtaking Zimbabwe's 326 against Ireland at Hobart in 2015.

MATCH 7 AFGHANISTAN VS. SRI LANKA AT CARDIFF

  • Mohammad Nabi's 4 for 30 is Afghanistan's best World Cup bowling performance replacing Shapoor Zadran's 4 for 38 against Scotland at Dunedin in 2015.
  • There have been ten previous World Cup matches where a batting side has lost their last nine wickets for fewer than the 57 which Sri Lanka managed. The most dramatic such collapse was India's 267 for 1 to 296 all out against South Africa at Nagpur in 2011.
  • Of six World Cup matches in this competition to date, the toss has been won on six occasions by a team which has inserted the opposition. There have been four losses for the toss-winner.
