MATCH 39 WEST INDIES VS. SRI LANKA AT CHESTER-LE-STREET

  • Nicolas Pooran and Avishka Fernando both made their maiden ODI centuries.
  • Fabian Allen became only the third West Indian number 8 batsman to hit a World Cup fifty. Deryck Murray (in 1975) and Ridley Jacobs (in 2003) are the only others to do so.
  • This match is the thirteenth out of twenty-two matches in this year's tournament which has ended in defeat for the side winning the toss and electing to field first.
  • The West Indian total of 315 for 9 is their highest, second innings World Cup total surpassing their 289 for 9 against South Africa in 2007.

MATCH 40 INDIA VS. BANGLADESH AT EDGBASON

  • The stand of 180 between Lokesh Rahul and Rohit Sharma is India's highest in the World for the first wicket. It beat Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan's 174 against Ireland at Hamilton in 2015.
  • Sharma made his fourth consecutive score of 50 or more in this year's competition. The Indian record is held by Virat Kohli in this tournament with five. Kohli could not add to the tally in this match.
  • Mustafizur Rahman became the second Bangladesh bowler to take five wickets in a World Cup innings. Shakib al Hasan was the first to do so earlier in this tournament.

MATCH 41 ENGLAND VS. NEW ZEALAND AT CHESTER-LE-STREET

  • England's victory is their first against New Zealand in the World Cup since 1983.
  • Jonny Bairstow became the first England batsman to record successive hundreds in the World Cup.
  • Joe Root became the first batsman to score 500 runs for England in one World Cup tournament.
  • Jofra Archer also became the most prolific wicket-taker for England in a World Cup competition. His 17 wickets to date surpassed Ian Botham's 16 in 1992. Mark Wood also drew level with Botham at Chester-le-Street.

MATCH 42 AFGHANISTAN VS. WEST INDIES AT HEADINGLEY

  • For the sixth time in their World Cup history, three West Indian batsmen passed fifty.
  • The second-wicket stand of 133 between Rahmat Shah and Ikram Ali Khil is Afghanistan's first century partnership at the World Cup.
  • Afghanistan's 288 is their highest World Cup total.
  • For the fifth time in their World Cup history, six (or more) West Indians took a catch in the same innings.
