MATCH 28 INDIA VS. AFGHANISTAN AT SOUTHAMPTON

  • Mohammad Shami became the tenth bowler in the World Cup to take a hat-trick. He is the second from India, Chetan Sharma having taken the World Cup's first hat-trick.
  • Shami joins Saqlain Mushtaq and Kemar Roach in ending a match with a hat-trick.
  • India's 224 for 8 is their fifth-lowest in the World Cup which they have successfully defended.

MATCH 29 NEW ZEALAND VS. WEST INDIES AT OLD TRAFFORD

  • For the sixth time in the World Cup, both openers were out for a duck. This was, though, the second time that both openers were out first ball. The previous occasion was for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan at Dunedin in 2015.
  • Martin Guptill became the fourth batsman to be dismissed by the first ball of a World Cup match.
  • Guptill became the first New Zealand batsman and fourteenth in total to register two or more golden ducks in the World Cup. He is the only opener to also be dismissed by the first ball of a team's innings twice.
  • Kane Williamson became the second New Zealand captain after Glenn Turner (in 1975) to score two centuries in the same World Cup competition.
  • The partnership of 160 between Williamson and Ross Taylor is New Zealand's highest for the third wicket in the World Cup.
  • Carlos Brathwaite became the second West Indian batsman after Lendl Simmons to score a World Cup century at number six.
  • Trent Boult's 4 for 30 is the best World Cup bowling for New Zealand against West Indies.

MATCH 30 PAKISTAN VS. SOUTH AFRICA AT LORD'S

  • For the first time in their World Cup history, South Africa lost five batsmen bowled in the same innings.
  • In the five World Cup meetings between the sides, South Africa won the first three but Pakistan have now won the last two.
  • By just two runs, the match aggregate of 567 runs for 16 wickets is the largest at a World Cup match at Lord's. The previous highest, 565 for 18, was set in the 1975 final between West Indies and Australia.
